Virtual Reality has been defined as “a realistic and immersive simulation of a three-dimensional environment, created using interactive software and hardware, and experienced or controlled by movement of the body” or as an “immersive, interactive experience generated by a computer.”
How does VR work?
The single most recognized element of VR is the head mounted display (HMD). In VR, user’s eyes are located within the simulated environment, unlike Augmented Reality in which computer uses sensors and algorithms to determine the position and orientation of the camera. Therefore when the user turns the head the graphics react too, creating a convincing and interactive world for the user.
VR app with stereoscopic effects
This project was done for TechSoft 3D itself, our team was given the challenge of designing and developing an Importer and Exporter for converting the Autodesk DWF format into HOOPS Graphics system. The client required full application support for both 2D and 3D DWF formats. The DWF technology was very new for our team, our team achieved a very high degree of accuracy of data conversion. The solution developed by us cleared all the QA benchmarks and the client was able to quickly and seamlessly integrate the new module into their main product.
VR for CAD Plugins
ProtoTech’s WebGL exporter plugin allows the user to convert CAD models to WebGL (.html). It is very easy to publish this WebGL/HTML file in their website. Smartphones are now carrying serious computing power and virtual reality (VR) headsets cheaply available (at as low as USD 10) Some of the popular VR headsets are Google cardboard, Oculus Rift, Gear VR, HTC Vive etc. Keeping up with our tradition of being at the forefront of the technology development, we have now added VR capability to the our WebGL/HTML export.
