SceneKit is a high-level 3D Graphics framework for iOS and macOS. It helps create a scene, place 3D objects, add a camera, some lights, has a physics engine and much more.
ProtoTech has developed SceneKit based applications for quite a few companies. Some of the applications that we helped develop are
Augmented Reality Application
A WebGL file importer was developed for a California based company. It imports a WebGL file into SceneKit which can be further used for Augmented Reality experience using Apple’s ARKit. The model can also be animated with touch controls
Custom format importers and exporters
ProtoTech’s “3D PDF Viewer” for iOS and Android platform reads a 3D PDF file using SceneKit and supports features like cutting planes, view modes, and touch controls.
Brief documentation with some snippets
Developed and maintained by Apple itself
SceneKit scene editor is present in the XCode IDE and hence one can evaluate features without even writing a single line of code
ARKit uses SceneKit and hence a model brought to SceneKit can be directly bought to AR
